For women wondering why they are always single while their friends flit from man to man, there is some consolation – it may not be your fault.
Research shows some of the secrets of attraction are hidden in immune system genes – which we inherit from our parents. The more varied they are, the more boyfriends a woman will have.
Almost 150 university students were asked by the Australian researchers to give a DNA sample. The volunteers, also filled in a detailed questionnaire about their love lives.
The DNA was scrutinised for variations in genes known to influence the immune system. The more diverse they are, the stronger a person’s defence against disease.
The results of the genetic tests were then matched up with the survey answers. This showed women with the most varied major histocompatibility complex (MHC) genes, had the most sexual partners. {Read on}
