Poster Child

from by Ian Marquis

Poster Child is about the tenancy of people to abuse those who offer the most of themselves - to ask more than is necessary, and to stand back and watch, rather than take action, knowing that someone else will take care of the problem. Basically, it's about human nature.

lyrics
Salutations are in order
That much is so clear
Your heart is bigger than the rest
So won't you tell me, dear

What's your name, your number?
We know how much you care
A thousands mouths, as many fingers
Tugging at your hair

Spit out
Chew in
Molar bites
Through thick and thin, yeah

You give, and you gave
Sold yourself
Somebody's slave, oh

Spit out
Suck in
Everybody loves a grin, yeah

You give
You gave
The very thing you meant to save

I know your hands are weary
There's so much more to do
There are so many people
Who are far worse off than you

Please stay another hour
Or just another dime
A thousands mouths, as many fingers
Don't you have the time?

Spit out
Chew in
Molar bites
Through thick and thin, yeah

You give, and you gave
Sold yourself
Somebody's slave, oh

Spit out
Suck in
Everybody loves a grin, yeah

You give
You gave
The very thing you meant to save

Just another dime
